128: Free Motion Quilting - A 6 Week Course (Starts June 25, 2021)

Welcome to the world of machine quilting. You are entering the realm of exploration, discovery, and the fun of doodling with your sewing machine. Machine free motion quilting is a fun and creative process and allows you to finish your projects with your own vision of creativity. In this class you will be able to work at your own pace and at your own comfort level.

This class is intended to be a fun and creative experience in which you will become comfortable with the art of free motion quilting. I look forward to meeting you and sharing my enthusiasm for machine quilting.

Basic tools

    Sewing machine with darning foot

    Extension table for your machine

    Supreme Slider (optional)

    Machingers quilters’ gloves (optional)


Sewing supplies you will need:

    5 yards muslin - no need to prewash – or any other solid

    Quilters’ Dream 80/20 batting - throw size

    Thread, thread snips, scissors, quilters’ safety pins, Frixion pen

    Sewing machine needles - size 80 or 90


Other supplies you will need:

    Sketch pad and pencil -


Before coming to class:

    Make sure that your machine is clean and in good running order

    Have 3 bobbins filled with the same thread that you will be using on the top

    Attach the darning foot, replace needle with a new needle, lower feed dogs

    Cut the muslin and batting into fat quarter size sections

    Layer the batting sections between two muslin sections and bring 3 sections to class



    Please arrive a little early to allow time to set up your machine

     Class time allows for a half-hour lunch break so plan on bringing a lunch
